Parasha
of the Week: Masei
What is G-dcast? Watch cartoons based on the story Jews are reading in
the Torah this week. Four minutes each week - some tell stories,
some sing country songs. (And then there's the hip
hoppers, too!)

Can You Do a
Mitzvah in September?
Do you live
within walking distance of PCS? Are you willing and able to do a
mitzvah? The family of Zennor Angove-Cohen,
who is becoming a Bat Mitzvah September 20, 2014, is looking for a
place to stay for close relatives, a family of four. They are coming
in from out of town and need a place to stay within walking distance
of PCS on Friday, September 19 and Saturday, September 20. If you
think you can help, please be in touch with Zennor's
grandmother, Elaine Cohen, at elainec@acohen.com
or call her at 914-318-9146. Thank you!

Shabbat
Services
We are all
shocked and saddened by the news coming out of Israel and Gaza. Our
tradition says that it is not enough to seek peace, we must pursue
it. Precious, innocent lives lie ruined, and destroyed. The human
suffering - on both sides - is beyond contemplation. Meanwhile,
Hamas continues to reject the cease-fire initiated by Israel,
although it was supported by Egypt, the Arab League, the UN, and
the United States. Missiles continue to rain down. Let us come
together this Shabbat to share our sadness; express our solidarity
with our brothers and sisters; and pray for peace.
Services at PCS are Friday night
at 7:15 pm, concluding by 8:30 pm. Saturday morning begins with
Meditation at 9 am, then Morning Service 9:30 am,
concluding by Noon.
Kiddush will
immediately follow service. After kiddush,
please join us for Torah
study. All are welcome.

SOME WAYS
TO HEAL the WORLD
The American Jewish World Service is
organizing a petition drive to pass the International
Violence Against Women Act (IVAWA). You can sign
on
line at the AJWS
website. Please consider supporting their emergency relief efforts, which at the moment include Typhoon
Haiyan in the Philippines, the Haiti earthquake, and drought in
East Africa.
Donations to the Joint Distribution Committee,
the JDC, are being solicited to support at-risk Jewish
children and elderly in Ukraine. We've been asked if there is an alternative
to UNICEF for emergency relief to children in Syria. You might
consider Mercy Corps. And of course Doctors Without Borders does very important work, world-wide, and is
always worthy of support. Thank you!
