Parasha
of the Week: Devarim
What is G-dcast? Watch cartoons based on the story Jews are reading in
the Torah this week. Four minutes each week - some tell stories,
some sing country songs. (And then there's the hip
hoppers, too!)

Can You Do a
Mitzvah in September?
Do you live
within walking distance of PCS? Are you willing and able to do a
mitzvah? The family of Zennor Angove-Cohen,
who is becoming a Bat Mitzvah September 20, 2014, is looking for a
place to stay for close relatives, a family of four. They are coming
in from out of town and need a place to stay within walking distance

The war in Gaza is causing a very serious financial strain
on all segments of Israeli society. We can help in at least two
ways: (A) direct donations to organizations that help Israel and (B)
buying Israeli products directly from retailers and suppliers in
Israel. Below is a listing in each category.
DONATIONS
(Note: this list gives the names of only a very few of the
many organizations you may wish to consider. There
are many, many more.)
1) UJA-Federation- http://www.ujafedny.org/
2) American Friends of Magen David
Adom- AFMDA info@afmda.org
3) Friends of the IDF- FIDF fidf@fidf.org
4)
Leket Israel- Leket
Israel newsletter@leket.org
5)
Jewish National Fund- http://www.jnf.org/
BUYING ISRAELI PRODUCTS
Buying Israeli products now injects much needed funds
directly to those people and businesses who
have seen a very sharp drop in income. (Note: Please check that the
product you are purchasing is what it is advertised to be.)
1) http://www.shopinisrael.com/
2) http://www.israeliproducts.com/
3) http://www.israel-catalog.com/
4) http://www.judaicawebstore.com/
In addition, many Israeli products are sold in retail stores
in our area. Please consider making local purchases as well.

SOME WAYS
TO HEAL the WORLD
The American Jewish World Service is
organizing a petition drive to pass the International
Violence Against Women Act (IVAWA). You can sign
on
line at the AJWS
website. Please consider supporting their emergency relief efforts, which at the moment include Typhoon
Haiyan in the Philippines, the Haiti earthquake, and drought in
East Africa.
Donations to the Joint Distribution Committee,
the JDC, are being solicited to support at-risk Jewish
children and elderly in Ukraine. We've been asked if there is an alternative
to UNICEF for emergency relief to children in Syria. You might
consider Mercy Corps. And of course Doctors Without Borders does very important work, world-wide, and is
always worthy of support. Thank you!
