Join Rabbi Mark and your fellow 8th Graders in an exploration of culture, meaning, politics, spirituality and ideology, as we explore the world around us broadly and deeply. Who are we? What are our expectations of the world, and of ourselves? Why is it so difficult at times to figure out what we are doing to please ourselves, and what we are doing to please others?
"Jew-Tube" is a lot of fun, and we learn a lot. Rabbi Mark pulls short videos off the internet - from “You Tube” and other sites – and then we have a chance to discuss what we see, and how it applies to our lives.
Here’s what last year’s class had to say about Jew-Tube:
“Jew-tube was an amazing experience…I recommend it to all incoming 8th graders.” “It’s fun to watch normal videos you wouldn’t usually think twice about – and then find meaning in them. It’s also just fun in general.” “…we watched You-Tube videos – very funny ones sometimes – and then applied them to life.” “…very good discussions.” “...worth the time.”
Hebrew High School: 9th - 12th Grades
A college level comparative religion course for 9th Graders with Rabbi Mark and visiting clergy!
This is the course your kids asked Rabbi Mark to teach.
Is religion the cause of the world's problems, or perhaps the solution? What do Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus - and Jews - really believe. What's the difference between "religion" and "spirituality"? Can spiritual seekers learn from each other, or are we destined to fight with each other forever?
In this remarkable course, High School students will journey with Rabbi Mark to explore the great spiritual traditions of the world. We'll learn about the origins of - and possible solutions to - some of the world's most long-standing disagreements, and come away perhaps with a new understanding of the role Judaism has to play in this critical time in world history.
Whether or not you took Rabbi Mark's "Jew Tube" last year, you're eligible for Hebrew High School.
Selected Wednesdays in the winter from 4:45 pm - 6 pm: January 11, January 25, February 8, February 29, March 14, and March 21.
